An adult choir sings each Sunday September through June. Opportunities for soloists, instrumentalists, and small ensembles are scheduled across the year.  A drumming circle participates in worship regularly.  Speak to the Director of Music and Arts for more information. Rehearsals are 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. on Wednesdays from September through June.

Liturgists assist in the reading of scripture and leading of prayers each Sunday. If you are interested, speak with the pastors who coordinate this opportunity.

Volunteers provide set-up, clean-up, and light refreshments for our post-worship coffee fellowship each week. A sign-up list is posted in Hodge Hall where we gather for coffee and fellowship following worship.

Everyone is encouraged to practice hospitality in welcoming others as God has welcomed us in Jesus Christ. One concrete way to do this is to serve as a greeter or usher in worship. Speak to our pastors about this ministry.

A wide variety of mission and outreach opportunities are listed under the “Serving Others” tab.

We grow in faith as well as express our faith through serving others. First Presbyterian Church has a long, rich history of mission and service in our city. We offer a range of opportunities to serve God’s world, from a shawl ministry that makes shawls to distributed during the winter months to our annual mission trips, from our ongoing collections for Heifer Project and food pantry items to the Walk Against Hunger and Souper Bowl of Caring food collection. We support the work of Hands on Hartford and the Covenant to Care for children throughout the year in a variety of ways.
